Father Bernabe Cobo - Inca Religion and Customs [translated by Roland Hamilton]
the Incas had snakes for weapons, and they even raised them and kept them here for guacas, especially the people in the province of Chinchaysuyu. In the district of Cuzco, three snakes made of thin strips of metal were found, all wound together around a pole.
These snakes had their own temple, chacara, and attendants to watch over them and take care of the sacrifice, which was an ordinary one.
