Dancing for Health: Conquering and Preventing Stress - By Judith Lynne Hanna
Stress may be beneficial, that is, be helpful in catalysing adaptive, productive and creative efforts to solve problems. Some people flourish under stress. Moderate amounts of discomfort can be alerting and invigorating. You may undergo a stressful life event and suffer no immediate disability or permanent damage but realise psychological and social growth instead. The stressor might stimulate your commitment to achieving goals and induce healing processes.
Pursuing a passion for the glory of success and the potential for euphoria, some people deliberately seek out stress in such challenges as athletic competition or a dance career. Stress motivates these individuals to attain higher peaks of performance. Other people seek stress for therapeutic and religious reasons.
Deliberately pushing the body and mind beyond normal limits through sensory overload …… may lead a person to experience euphoria, a vision or mysticism.
