Background

A description of the experience

Into the Light – Fay Marvin Clark

the Maya … appear to have a deep veneration for days and numbers. Nine is considered as especially lucky. Possibly this might be as a result of their belief in the nine steps or levels leading to the Maya heaven.

Thirteen is another lucky number. This might be because of the ancient belief in the existence of thirteen gods as helpers of Hunabku.

The use of seven as a mystic number among the Mayans is found from the northern portion of Yucatan to the highlands of Guatemala and eastward to the coast of Honduras. It is also frequently mentioned in the "Popul-Vuh."
