Background

A description of the experience

David Scott Rogo - Leaving the Body: A Complete Guide to Astral Projection

German therapist Carl Happich worked with what he called "emergent images." He would train his patients to relax, learn to breathe steadily and rhythmically, and meditate.

Happich considered any resulting mental imagery as direct messages from the unconscious.

To stimulate the production of this imagery, he would suggest that his patients go on mental journeys to various locations-such as to a prairie, a mountain, a flowing stream, and so on. He believed that he could actually change his patients' behavior patterns by working directly with the associated images that appeared during these guided tours.
