Bhagavad Gita - Death and State of Mind

Type of Spiritual Experience

What you believe in determines what happens on death.  If you believe in 'hell', frighten others with this invention of yours and generally do a great deal of harm with this concept,  you will find yourself in a place especially constructed that looks like 'hell' although where you actually are is not hell at all.  We make our own reality.  The more you understand of the spiritual realm and its constituents, the better able you will be to create  the reality that you are 'happy' with.  Believe in nothing and that is probably what you will get - until you reincarnate - an eternity of purple ink is not appealing to most of us but there you are, that's people for you

Me in this context is the Higher spirit

A description of the experience

The Bhagavad Gita [translated by W J Johnson]

Those who have vowed themselves to the gods go to the gods, those whose vows are to the fathers go to the fathers, those worshipping spirits go to the spirits and those who worship Me come to Me…………….

Those established in purity go upward
The passionate stand in the middle
Those fixed in darkness, the lowest mode of the constituents, go below………..

And whoever dies, remembering me alone at the moment of death, attains to my state once he is liberated from the body – there can be no doubt about that
Indeed whatever state he calls to mind as he abandons his body at its end, he inevitably attains it…. transmuted to that state.

The source of the experience
