Dennis Bardens - Ghosts and Hauntings
This is based on the account given to Mr Barden by the percipient Mr Geoffrey Wilson.
On a fine summer day Geoffrey, then a boy of ten years of age, was in the garden at a house in Montague Road, Cambridge, belonging to his step-grandfather Mr Howell and his grandmother Mrs Howell.
He suddenly came on a young woman, whom he describes as frail but quite beautiful, reclining in a hammock in the summer-house. Thinking little of it he was astonished at the consternation occasioned when he went into the house describing the lady and asking who she was.
The description tallied with that of his father's youngest sister Stella Wilson who had died in the summer-house earlier that year. Geoffrey, as it happened, knew nothing of this aunt and had not been told of her death. This seems odd, but she was a tuberculosis patient and could well have been out of circulation for a long time.
Geoffrey says it was only some years later he was told that he had seen the apparition of a deceased person.
