Background

A description of the experience

At one time it would appear that the shamanic witch’s hat with the flat top was once more of a bowler hat and thus more accurate symbolically.  An explanation for each type of hat can be obtained by following the links.  The string of beads hanging from the hats of shamans is a key part of the overall symbolism as in the first place the resulting shape is that of an Egg.  In the second place the beads represent souls around the Egg - little soul cones ,in effect the shaman is symbolically showing that he or she has the responsibility for the souls represented as beads and is the intermediary between the world below the brim whilst communicating with the world above the brim.
