Add it to what? Make it what? He doesn’t know. He doesn’t
know.
OnIy this will.- his own. He takes a cigarette. He lights it.
It is windy out. The palm trees in the church-yard will be torn
down. The wind
does not enter the clocks. Time is not shaken. Nine, ten,
eleven, twelve, one. They are setting the table in the room next
door,
they’re bringing the plates. The old woman crosses herself, The
spoon
moves to the mouth. A slice of bread is under the table.
