Andre Previn, David Rose - "Like Blue"
One of 12 tracks from the superb 1959/1960 MGM recording "Andre Previn, David Rose - Like Blue". The quality of the sound is so crisp and clear that it is hard to believe that the LP is 50 years old. I can only guess that whoever owned it before I bought it (8 years ago) rarely played it and that MGM's manufacturing process was excellent. Not only is the sound reproduction of a high quality - so also is the music as arranged and presented by Andre Previn on the piano and David Rose and his orchestra.

"Serenade in Blue" originally appeared in the 1942 movie Orchestra Wives by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra. Glenn Miller also released the song as an RCA Victor 78 single which peaked at #2 on the Billboard pop singles chart. Mack Gordon wrote the lyrics while the music was by Harry Warren, who also wrote the music for "Jeepers Creepers", "I Only Have Eyes For You", "Chattanooga Choo Choo", and "At Last", which was also in the movie Orchestra Wives. Ray Eberle sang it on record.
