Background
A description of the experience
Loxapine (several trade names worldwide) is a typical antipsychotic medication, used primarily in the treatment of schizophrenia.
It is structurally related to clozapine, which means it may be better classified as an atypical antipsychotic. But its description says “ it may control aggressive behaviour and restlessness, and reduce the severity of hallucinations and delusions”! It has been ‘abused’ “At least 3 cases were reported of loxapine succinate abuse see Sperry L, Hudson B, Chan CH (March 1984). ‘Loxapine abuse’. The New England Journal of Medicine 310 (9): 598”. It appears to a very complex drug, however, with adrenergic receptor action, cholinergic action, histaminic action and serotonic action
