A description of the experience

T C Lethbridge – The Power of the Pendulum

Some time ago a lady lived near us, who had studied magic and claimed to be an adept. She often came and talked to me.

She taught me how to prevent the arrival of unwanted visitors by putting pentagrams in their way. Before going to sleep one night, I practised drawing mental pentagrams round our beds. I was not greatly interested in this kind of magic and was simply amused to see if I could draw mental pentagrams.

A few nights later my wife woke feeling that somebody was in the room and saw a faint light moving round the beds before it faded out.

About a fortnight later our magician friend dropped in for tea. She wanted to know if someone had been putting protection on us. I replied that they hadn't as far as I knew but why did she ask. She said that she came into our bedroom one night to see if we were all right but she could not get near the bed because of the triangles of fire round it. It turned out that she was in the habit of visiting her friends' houses by going on to another mental level and travelling on it. This is not evidence, but the pentagram business is very remarkable.

Strange though it seemed to us, it was evidently commonplace to an adept. She claimed to fly quite easily from place to place and much enjoyed the sensation.
