A description of the experience
Daniélou, Alain – The Way to the Labyrinth [translated by Marie-Claire Cournand]
…..we reached Quetta, a delightful winter resort for high government officials, and found rooms in one of those wonderful old one-story colonial hotels with large verandahs surrounded by bougainvillea. We had to wear ties for dinner.
"The Widow" and I made up our minds to spend several days in this restful oasis, but it was not to be. Very early the next morning, Raymond, who often had strange premonitions, roused us from our sleep. He had been awakened by a night-mare and felt that we were in serious danger. He insisted that we leave immediately, so, feeling rather ill-humoured, we reluctantly left our paradise.
The next day, the entire city of Quetta was destroyed by an earthquake so calamitous that it has gone down in history. There were no survivors in the hotel.
