TIME.
"TIME rolls on, till all are swept away,
The wise, the blind, the preyer, and the prey!
Still there are those who, born surpassing great,
Refined by thought, or purified by fate,
Stars of their age, and lights amid a storm,
Framed to excel as much as some deform;
Nature’s choice flowers, whose fragrant mem'ries bloom
When long their stems have withered in the tomb;
Still there are those who grace the historic page-
Bard, hero, patriot, senator, and sage-
On whom, exalted to a height sublime,
Death claims no power, no power has ruthless rime;-
Such are the names my much-loved country sees
Entwined amid her glorious destinies!
Such are the suns whose beams shall matchless shine
When nought of Britain lives but what’s divine!”
