Background
A description of the experience
A walk (adapted from Brian Henry)
This is the point where we undid each other
Unzipped each other
Lay each other on the ground, lay on our jackets.
That is the point we rescued each other from the cold,
Bundled each other into packets to cradle.
This is the point where you promised more
As you’d done since I’d met you at the station, after your train had arrived
This is the point where you lifted my sweater from my body
And covered with your hands all you could cover
And tasted all your hands could not hold.
The point where I asked you inside,
As I was,
Under the sky and the fir trees that offered a view of clouds
And gave the sounds of distant birds and ramblers.
And the number of times I wanted you that week
Are more than anyone can count
