An astrologer's view of Neptune

Type of Spiritual Experience

A description of the experience

By email March 2009

Neptune describes the idea of things like compassion, being out of the here and now – the sense you have when you get lost in a film or when you are lost in a painting – you are not here for a while but in some other state.  Drugs, alcohol and the like can get you there but so can being in love, meditation, dancing etc etc   - all the things you are talking about – if you have this archetype strongly present ... then you have the creative side as well as the addictive side.

Pop stars artists etc etc are always on drugs or are addicted to something but are extremely creative  - same archetype – it’s people who can easily escape from reality – trick is to do it positively.  The can contact another reality somehow.

It’s romantic, idealistic, non material, compassionate – helps the world but is also a victim energy.  The helper, the co-dependent…. etc etc all these go together in astrology so reading about what Neptunian types do ( Pisces) might give you some ideas… Neptune is about the world being one place – all connected love and light and spirituality –

You can also get religious trances of course too – same principle – you might need to interview or read about people who go to Lourdes etc.

Hope this is clear – one can never be when talking of Neptune…

As an aside – I think when one goes on a trip – the experiences will be very different depending on where you are in yourself. Some go to heaven so to speak some to hell… addiction is tricky stuff as I think it is about trying to reach the state you are talking about but it is actually unreachable – a longing to be without a body – for being back where we came from –  Nirvana and all that.
