T C Lethbridge – The Power of the Pendulum
I had a man helping me at an excavation of a Christian Saxon cemetery at Burwell, Cambridgeshire. He was down in a grave scraping small particles of soil into a biscuit tin for removal. It made a small tinkling sound. I went over to see how he was getting on.
He looked up and said how much he was enjoying it as it made such a pretty colour. I knew that I had always thought he was a bit odd and now he seemed quite mad.
However, I decided to ask what sort of colour it made. He told me it was a lovely pale pink. I went on talking about it and found that he appreciated all sounds in colour and thought everybody else did too. It amazed him that I had never seen a coloured sound.
