Foreboding of Death

Jacques Romano, 84-year-old chemical manufacturer, of 101 Maiden Lane, Manhattan, was a guest at the Spring Street home of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Chaplitsky in Passaic on July 18, recounting his experiences among Arab tribesmen and devotees of Hindu yogi. Two physicians and two newspapermen were in the group that saw Mr. Romano stop his pulse and drain one hand of blood. He also gave a demonstration of telepathy.

Ed Reardon related some incidents of the evening in a recent column written for this page.

"Several days after his visit, Mr. Romano told his Passaic host, 'Ask your newspaper friends to inquire, discreetly, if anything happened to Hearst, the publisher.  This morning I had a feeling like a pain in my stomach but I had no pain. I began thinking of Hearst. I got the conviction that he would be dead within six weeks.'

That was less than a month ago. Hearst executives in New York, to whom the incident was related, said they had heard no news of any change in the health of the master of San Simeon. William Randolph Hearst died Wednesday, August l4th, at 12:45 p.m. New York time.”
