... he represented the grandfather of a young friend of mine called Yan. Shortly before he died, Yan's grandfather had told me how he used to fly up to the sky in the form of a falcon and was later punished with exile for magically healing reindeer hoof-rot in competition with the official vet. Even the teacher who had choreographed the dance was the granddaughter of a shamaness who had been punished.
