Out of body from epilepsy
Type of Spiritual Experience
The cause is a brain tumour. But the cause of the tumours is some inflammatory body - a toxin, parasite, bacteria etc
"These tumors are usually slow-growing. The neoplasms are associated with the sudden onset of seizures. Histologically, they can be associated with inflammatory cell infiltration and reticulin deposits. Very rarely, these tumors undergo transformation to a more malignant tumor. Pleomorphic Xanthoastrocytoma is, in general, considered a benign tumor."
A description of the experience
Nervenarzt. 2005 Oct;76(10):1259, 1261-2. [Out-of-body experience as possible seizure symptom in a patient with a right parietal lesion]. [Article in German] Brandt C, Brechtelsbauer D, Bien CG, Reiners K. Epilepsiezentrum Bethel, Klinik Mara I, Bielefeld. firstname.lastname@example.org
Out-of-body experiences are reported in a variety of diseases and physiologic conditions. We report a 44-year-old patient with epigastric auras, psychomotor and grand mal seizures, and paroxysmal experiences during which he believed to have left his body and seen himself from the outside.
Electroencephalography showed a right temporal and right parietal seizure pattern on several occasions, and a lesion in the right parietal lobe was detected by cranial magnetic resonance imaging.
Histological examination showed a pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma. Following extirpation of the lesion, the patient has been seizure-free for 5 years.
