Symbols - What does heaven look like

Blue Triqueta

The blue triquetra is a symbol used in a number of religions and cultures.  It may represent either the Triqueta or the Trinity.

In the example here it is surrounded by the triangle [the soul cone] and the circle [the island of soul] .

But the same symbol can be used at an individual level or a more universal level.

The blue colour is to indicate the spiritual nature of the sign, though occasionally the sign isn’t blue!

The triquetra to the right is an interlaced one.

It is an ancient symbol having been found on runestones in Northern Europe and on early Germanic coins. It is also used extensively  in illuminated manuscripts and on metal work in Celtic art and objects.  It is used for example in the Book of Kells and in numerous Celtic crosses.

When the symbol is used by Christians it is always a sign of the Trinity. It can be found on Christian sculpture, vestments, book arts and stained glass. It has been used on the title page and binding of some editions of the New King James Version.
