Buhlman, William

Category: Writer

William Buhlman is an American who specialises in teaching and writing about out-of-body experiences. He currently runs workshops with the Monroe Institute, which run for 6 days and are an intensive exploration of the experience.  He is a qualified hypnotherapist with personal experience of out of body and uses various methods himself and for course participants to induce the out of body state.  They include visualisation and meditation methods, hypnosis and the hemi-sync sound system.

In essence, like Robert Monroe, he writes from experience not theoretically and has been able to go out of body for nearly 40 years, giving him ‘a unique and thought provoking insight into this subject’.

He is also the author of a number of books on the subject.  His first book, Adventures beyond the Body chronicled his ‘personal spiritual journey of self-discovery’ through out-of-body travel.  Fascinated by the subject, and over a period of about 12 years, he then started to conduct an international out-of-body experience survey that included over 16,000 participants from forty-two countries. A relatively small number of these [given the number surveyed] were then documented and analysed in his book The Secret of the Soul.

His newly published book is titled, Adventures in the Afterlife. William was inspired to write this book after “a confrontation with mortality” following a cancer diagnosis in 2011. His lucid dreams and out of body experiences during his treatment and recovery “provided mind bending visions that were so illuminating that he felt compelled to journal his experience”.   William has appeared on numerous television and radio shows worldwide.

William's books are currently available in twelve languages.
