Some science behind the scenes
Trigger points and nerves
Very roughly speaking there is also a correspondence between the ‘hot’ yang energy and the sympathetic nervous system [red below]or the Arteries and the ‘cold’ yin energy [blue below]and the parasympathetic nervous system or veins.
One might think of the nerves and blood vessels as the communication system in a computer network, whereas the energy flows are the software messages that travel over the network. The difference is important as a ‘message’ has information content and can be directed to specific points on the body. A nervous impulse, neurotransmitter or hormone has no information content – it is just a carrier.
The diagram overleaf, though hand drawn and a little basic is remarkably good at showing the Physical nervous system, it comes from Dr Rele’s book ‘The Mysterious Kundalini’ and is one which I found quite helpful, as it correlates chakras and the ganglionic centres of the autonomic nervous system.
These key trigger points and their location as well as the link to the nerves is shown in the diagram.
As you can see from the diagram they all join, flow up the spine and reach the brain through the spinal cord.
