Some science behind the scenes

Scabicide

The term “scabicide” refers to agents specifically targeting the parasite SarcoptesSarcoptes is a genus of mites, but in general the other types are all considered subordinate to Sarcoptes scabiei.

Sarcoptes scabiei is a parasitic arthropod that burrows into skin and causes scabies. The most common symptoms of which are severe itchiness and a pimple-like rash.

Mites belong to the arachnid subclass Acari, and the name Acaricidesis sometimes used as a more general term for a pesticide that kills members of this family which includes ticks and mites. The term "arachnicide" is also occasionally used to refer to agents that target arachnids as a whole.
