Background
The Faravahar is a depiction of the Higher spirit. It combines the symbolism of a bird [as in the Egyptian system], with that of a King or Queen with a crown - an enlightened person. Thus the Faravahar is by extension the symbol of an enlightened person.
It is worthwhile comparing the symbol with that used by the Sumerians, in old Mesopotamia, as they are very similar.
