A description of the experience

Thoughts through Space – Sir Hubert Wilkins and Harold M Sherman

Not only the morning, but also the entire day of the 18th was replete with incidents to which my thought reactions were strong. I had Sherman consciously in mind many times, and, by habit, flashed to him a mental review of each incident as it occurred. The evening afforded almost my first opportunity to attempt deliberate and undisturbed contact with him at the hour initially agreed upon.

Although this is not recorded in my diary, I recall distinctly that the wife of one of my friends gave Kenyon and me a dinner that night. Present was a lady, who, our hostess said, was "psychic." In the course of conversation this guest spoke of the "visions" she had seen, and described the attendant condition "as if looking down from a great height to see enacted, prior to actual occurrence, incidents such as fatal accidents" to persons of her acquaintance.

She had witnessed (or "seen") her father’s death the day before it took place.

Since then she has been a little afraid of her power, and tries to take no notice of "visions"-yet they come. Specifically, she reported having had a vision of a mutual friend which purported injury to one of his eyes. (It was not until two years later, when I revisited Edmonton, that I learned the "accident" had happened to our mutual friend. As I did not seek details, it is not possible to verify the facts of her "prediction.")

Anyway, we two went away from the others so that I might quietly review the day's events for Sherman, and later I discussed with her the possibility of discovering the Russians.

Her "special powers" gave no inkling of anything connected with the Levanevsky party.

But here, let us follow through what Sherman received that night:

“I feel you very strongly about your plane tonight-you are either on your way north or leaving very shortly. Snow in the north - more coming - wind. None too good flying weather though ground conditions are better. One of the expedition seems sick.

Is it Wilson? Edmonton tries to wine and dine you- you sidestep as often as possible. 9:30 tomorrow you plan some definite action, perhaps resume flight . . . something important set for that time. Wife of friend entertains you at dinner-you show small semi-private group on map where you intend search for Russian fliers. My letter addressed to you at Winnipeg has reached you at Edmonton (It had.)

Your location at present in state of change- ‘under way . . . pushing out,' I seem to hear. Seemed to see your face loom out of darkness suddenly-almost startled me.  You appeared to be staring hard at me."

At the time he was recording, I was actually visualizing Sherman waiting for messages from me. It was almost the first time since our agreement had been made that I had been able to sit undisturbed and review the important incidents of the day.
