A description of the experience
The Mystical Life – J H M Whiteman
(July 1933) while apparently awake in bed I observed a faint white cloud within an opening, which began to narrow itself because of fixation.
Denying this and restoring recollection, I was enabled to steady the state, which was then transformed into one of separation,..... My separated form was then lying as on open moorland at a considerable height, the ground smoothly dropping a little way off to country at a lower level.
In the distance was a range of hills, seen in scintillating light, as if looking into the sun, and very beautiful. After a while I considered again my separated form, ….. I seemed to be about 14 or 15 years of age. I was puzzled, however, by the tangible feeling round the hips-a vividly substantial touch like that of clothes. Whatever it was, it was not in any way heavy or restricting; but my mental powers were not sufficiently developed to discern any more detail. After a short time I returned to the physical state.
