Whiteman, J H M possesses others
Identifier

Type of Spiritual Experience
Background
There were a number of occasions when it appears that Professor Whiteman accidentally possesed another person's body.
As his ability to control his out of body experiences was vitually non existent, he was completely unable to stop what was happening or realise it for what it was. Luckily most instances of possession were short lived.
A description of the experience
The Mystical Life – J H M Whiteman
On several occasions, for instance, I have awakened in bed (as it appeared) to find myself in a different and more acceptable body, or touching the body of some non-physical person. There is nothing imaginative about the kind of experience I have in mind.
On some of these occasions, for as long as half a minute, I have passed my hands carefully over the contours of the body, noting that the sense of touch was far more vivid and 'real' than in the physical world, and that objects were at hand, equally real though not corresponding with those in the physical world. Yet all the time I seemed to be still in bed.
This is an experience requiring extreme mental control on account of the powerful persuasion trying, as it were, to compel us to believe that in spite of all differences we are 'really' in the physical body. The instant a slight doubt or first glimmer of the persuasion is allowed to take hold we awake in the physical world with a jolt and the inner phenomena vanish almost as if they had never been.
