Type of Spiritual Experience

"A British scientist Sam Parnia, .. says he is finding evidence that suggests that consciousness may continue after the brain has stopped functioning and a patient is clinically dead. ….. Parnia and his colleagues have found more than 3,500 people with lucid memories that apparently occurred at times they were thought to be clinically dead. Many of the patients, he said, were reluctant to share their experiences fearing they would be thought crazy."

A description of the experience

Margot Grey – Return from Death

I passed out for the third time.  By now the pain and the pressure were gone and I wasn't really sure what was going on.  I could see OK and I felt pretty good, but nothing made any sense.

I tried looking round as I just wasn't sure where I really was.  Then everything went dark.  It was like waking up in outer space or in total darkness.  I had no sensation of hot or cold; I can't really explain what it felt like, but it's just a huge vastness of just nothing.

The next thing I realised was a feeling of motion.  I was moving forward and I had the sensation that the speed was increasing.  As I went faster and faster the void gradually assumed the shape of a tunnel, like the inside of a tornado.  The dimension of the tunnel could be thousands of miles wide.  As you go further forward into the tunnel you have the feeling of going into infinity.

You have a feeling of free falling but you are not falling down,  more a sensation of moving forward or going through.  By now I felt as if I was being propelled forward at the speed of light or faster, in a straight line
