A description of the experience

Love is the Link – Dr Pamela Kircher

The following account describes how someone who had been in a semi-conscious state for over two weeks following a severe stroke, seemed in his final days to be communicating on some level with something or someone. His right side was paralysed, he could not speak, and could not see. His only movement was his face and eyes, head, left arm, hand and leg.

Approximately four to five days before he died, there was definitely some form of final meeting. At the end he very methodically shook each person's hand; there were at least three [perceived people]. He went to shake the last person's hand, which brought him very close to myself. I sat at the side of the bed, I interposed, my hand in the space, he grasped my hand, as if to shake it, then realized it was not right and very forcefully threw my hand away shot me a look which said, 'How dare you?' and went back to shake whoever's hand he was meant to . . .

It was on the following day he said his very moving final farewell. Somehow he managed to pull my head down and place it between the side of his own head, and shoulder and gave me the most wonderful hug and kiss. For a man so physically incapacitated and unable to 'see' or speak, I was dumbfounded as well as deeply moved.

Three days later he slipped into a coma . . . on his last exhalation he turned his head towards the window, slowly opened his eyes, the colour of which was the most piercing luminescent blue I have ever seen, after a few seconds the colour slowly faded back to normal and he slowly closed his eyes again.
