The Cloud of Unknowing
The humility engendered by this experiental knowledge of [the creation] I call perfect because it is an attitude which man can retain in eternity. But the humility arising from a realistic grasp of the human condition I call imperfect, for not only will it pass away at death with its cause but even in this life it will not always be operative.
