Background

A description of the experience

Rudolf Steiner – How to Know Higher Worlds

But under all circumstances it is beneficial if the pupil now and then surrounds himself with the restful peace, the intrinsic virtue and grace of Nature. Conditions are particularly favourable for one whose esoteric training can be pursued in the midst of the green world of plants, or among the sunny hills and the enchanted innocence of Nature. This environment draws out the inner organs in a harmony that can never be achieved in a modern city.

An individual who at least during childhood was able to breathe the air perfumed by scent of fir-trees, to gaze at snow-capped mountain peaks and the peaceful life of woodland creatures and insects, is more fortunate than the city-dweller.
