Shostakovich "Tea for two"
Tea for two or Tahiti Trot, Op. 16, Shostakovich's orchestration of "Tea for Two" from the musical by Vincent Youmans, No, no, Nanette (1925)
This is the orchestration made by Shostakovich of a popular song in his epoque... a song called Tea for two, from the musical No, no, Nanette. In 1927 Nilolai Malko challenged Shostakovich to do a orchestral version in just only one hour, but Shostakovich only needed 45 minutes... even if he only could listen to this song once... This orchestration was first performed in 1928 but with the name of Tahití Trot, part of Shostakovich´s ballet, The golden age.
