Background
This map is from a document found in the British Library – the Rudimentum Noviciorum by Lucas Brandis, produced in 1475. This map is also in sections that show the division of the spiritual map into three quarters – it also ties in however with the cardinal directions. East – the Orient – is at the top. Again what is fascinating is that each soul grouping is shown as a mountain or a hill – a cone in other words – superimposed on the map. Every cone is labelled with its soul grouping. The soul groupings are mostly Biblical.
