NAMING THE CARD NO ONE SAW
Romano shuffled a deck of cards and then a subject cut the deck. The top card of the cut deck was removed and placed face down under an opaque object-an ashtray, for instance. The cut deck was then put back together by the subject. Some distance away, Romano then named the card under the opaque object. He was correct seventeen times and failed once.
