I have had only one OBE, and I didn't know that's what it was at the time.

It was in October 1977, in Maryland. I was attacked by a rapist who had killed a lot of women by slashing their throats. I knew I was going to die. While in the midst of the rape, I suddenly came out of the top of my head and stood across the room and watched myself being attacked. I knew "I" was okay . . . that I was separate from my body and if it got killed, I would just go on to the next world.

I spoke to "God" . . . trying to find a way to avoid this death and spare my parents having to go through this horrible experience. At some point, I knew all of a sudden that I had been given a task to do and would not be leaving this world now. Without trying or thinking of it, I was suddenly back in my body ……. through the top of my head. I started to panic and the rapist left and came back three times before leaving for good. After the experience I could remember what the man looked like even though I was blindfolded the whole time.

Later I reluctantly told the D.A. and the police investigators what had happened during the crime, and to my shock, the D.A. did not seem surprised at all. Several weeks later I was able to identify the attacker through photos brought around by the police. The man I identified was indeed the multiple rapist-murderer and was tried and convicted.
