Qu’ran - Intelligence as function not form - Surah Al An’am

Type of Spiritual Experience

Background

The Qu’ran places great emphasis upon the fact that the Intelligence Allah is not material – not a physical thing, but is spirit. In fact this selection of extracts specifically states that 'vision perceives Him not', you cannot see Him.  Thus the Creator is essentially an entity which is ‘invisible’.

In this respect there is no father figure with a beard looking down from somewhere in heaven.

Of especial interest is

 - firstly, an acknowledgement of the existence of Djinns as spirit beings, jinns created by the Creator - they owe their existence to the Creator.

 - secondly, that the Creator does not have a physical son, there are later explanations about the meaning of Son in its spiritual sense, but it ties in with the definition on the site

 - thirdly that this Intelligence is more like the Hindu Trimurti in that he/she is both Creator and Destroyer

A description of the experience

Qu’ran- Surah Al An’am translated by Sahih International

6:76  So when the night covered him [with darkness], he saw a star. He said, "This is my lord." But when it set, he said, "I like not those that disappear."

6:77  And when he saw the moon rising, he said, "This is my lord." But when it set, he said, "Unless my Lord guides me, I will surely be among the people gone astray."

6:78  And when he saw the sun rising, he said, "This is my lord; this is greater." But when it set, he said, "O my people, indeed I am free from what you associate with Allah .

6:79  Indeed, I have turned my face toward He who created the heavens and the earth, inclining toward truth, and I am not of those who associate others with Allah ."...............

6:83  And that was Our [conclusive] argument which We gave Abraham against his people. We raise by degrees whom We will. Indeed, your Lord is Wise and Knowing [Intelligent].

*****************************

6:100 But they have attributed to Allah partners - the jinn, while He has created them - and have fabricated for Him sons and daughters. Exalted is He and high above what they describe

6:101  [He is] Originator of the heavens and the earth. How could He have a son when He does not have a companion and He created all things? And He is, of all things, Knowing.

6:102 That is Allah, your Lord; there is no deity except Him, the Creator of all things, so worship Him. And He is Disposer of all things.

6:103  Vision perceives Him not, but He perceives [all] vision; and He is the Subtle, the Acquainted.
