the success of theoretical physics has everywhere depended on the readiness of the physicist to discard anthropomorphic elements, particularly derived from our all too human sense perception, and to look behind the visible and tangible screen for the entities and events, which by their very nature can be neither seen nor handled, and to which the laws of mechanics no longer apply.
