A description of the experience
Rosalind Heywood – The Infinite Hive
Our surface interests, [those of her and her husband] except for music, were different too.
He did not share my passion to discover what made my fellow men tick, preferring to use his hands to make more docile machinery tick himself. Work apart, his hobbies were to invent gadgets, to tinker with cars in order to drive them faster than their makers had designed them to go, and to play golf.
And yet, safely hidden behind this competent man of action I soon discovered a mystically minded intuitive, who took ESP in his stride and had no apparent wish to pester nature with petty questions merely because she did not always conform to Newtonian science.
I well remember when first he told me of a hunch which saved his life. He was working at a forward artillery observation post on a hilltop which was being heavily bombarded. Nevertheless, he kept his companion on the job until, suddenly he 'knew' that the moment had come.
'Now!' he cried. 'Drop everything and clear out.'
They just got away as a shell fell slap on the post.
