- one pound of prunes
- one pound of demerara sugar
- one pound of seedless raisins
- quarter pound of whole almonds
Remove the stones from the prunes, chop [or liquidise] the prunes, almonds and raisins until very fine. Soak all overnight in 1 pint of water. Next day add the demerara sugar bring to the boil and cook for half an hour, boiling not too fast. Pour into sterilised jars and seal immediately.
You will find this jam delicious on brown bread - it is a mild natural laxative for both adults and children.
