Melissa told me about the experience she’d had during her sophomore year at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, when she dreamed she was standing in front of her bureau fiddling with her contact lenses.

‘It was very realistic’ she said ‘I knew I was dreaming in my bed, but I also felt I was at the dresser.  In the morning, Maureen my roommate, told me she woke up in the middle of the night and saw me at the dresser putting in, or taking out, whatever it was, my contact lenses.  Then she looked over and saw another me sleeping in bed’….

‘We had a room in a dormitory’ said Maureen Magee, Melissa’s former room mate, who when I spoke to her was living in Naples, Florida.  ‘My bed was on one side, with my dresser in front of the bed, and Melissa’s was the same on the other side.  This was six or seven years ago when we were nineteen or twenty.  I woke up and saw Melissa standing in front of her bureau, leaning over, apparently taking out her contacts.  Then I looked over at her bed and saw her sleeping there.  I kept looking from one to the other, trying to figure out which one was Melissa.  But I couldn’t figure it out.  Both looked normal’
