Type of Spiritual Experience

Background

I have left it open, but for me this is almost proof that he was being coached by bodied souls.

This is not his grandpa giving advice, disembodied souls don't give out addresses or need time - and very precise time too 24 hours - to think about a problem.  Matthew had attracted spiritualists and they had got together spiritually to come up with a solution for him.

This was bodied spirit communication through mediums.

A description of the experience

The Link – Matthew Manning

This sense of time is again demonstrated with another message I received later. After his passing over, his wife [Matthew’s granny] suffered from a total nervous breakdown, from which, even today, two years later, she has not recovered, nor, according to medical opinion, is she likely to.

At first my father did not know what to do about her, as all treatment seemed ineffective. He asked me to communicate with his father and seek advice from him. This I did and I was told by my grandfather that he could give no help. But, he said, if I gave him "time to think" he would see what he could do, and he asked for "twenty-four hours" to think about the problem. This was very much in keeping with his character: he would always try to have time to think about a problem, rather than give an immediate decision.

The next day he wrote: "Matthew, since yesterday I have done some hard work which may help you. The doctor at N. (name given) is useless. Try

The Phobic Trust
51, Northwood Avenue
Purley, Surrey.

They deal with this kind of thing and they might help you. Further than this I can think of no more. It may be worth a try, but you can never tell. I hope it will provide some sort of solution to a very worrying problem. Don't hesitate to ask me any more . . ."

The address given proved somewhat baffling. No one had heard of "The Phobic Trust". No one in our family knows Purley in Surrey.

Immediately we made enquiries about this address and discovered that it did exist, and that a small little-known registered charity known as "The Phobic Trust" operated from it. I was sure that my grandfather did not know this area, nor the "Phobic Trust". How he came to pass on its address was a mystery to me, until I received a letter from a lady who helps to run it.

She was, it transpired, associated with the Spiritualist movement, and in fact had some mediumistic powers herself. I have wondered whether my grandfather "picked her up" whilst she was practising her gifts, and then passed her address on through me.
