Background

A description of the experience

SHADOW LAND OR  LIGHT FROM THE OTHER SIDE by Elisabeth d’Esperance(1897)

Returning with the links to the table we put them down upon it again and took our seats. Scarcely had we done so when they were gone again. This time we were told to look in a Japanese box on a high shelf. By mounting a chair the box was taken down and placed before us to be opened. It happened to be locked, so the key had to be searched for. On opening it the links were found inside a silver teapot which the box contained.

Again we were seated with the links before us on the table, but a third time they instantly disappeared, and after a long search, when we failed to find them, we broke up the seance to have a cup of coffee before separating. One of our friends, about to drink his coffee, had it splashed over his face. The links had mysteriously fallen, apparently from a height, into his cup, and we fished them out with a teaspoon.
