The Reluctant healer – William J Macmillan

One of these cases was rather interesting in that it confirmed a peculiarity of this treatment:- The gentleman in question was suffering from an outbreak of boils. These are not only painful, but highly infectious. A treatment of rubbing would seem to be the last method one would expect to provide a cure, even should the sufferer be able to endure the agony of such vigorous methods. However, the rubbing did not prove to be more than uncomfortable for the first few minutes. Though the boils themselves opened under treatment, the infection was not spread, I have forgotten now the length of time it took to effect a complete cure, but I think it was a fortnight.
