Anna could make tables rap and glasses glided from letter to letter spelling out messages. Thereafter we had great fun; a group of boys and girls of from seventeen to nineteen years of age, sitting with our fingers lightly touching the surface of the table while it would rise and tilt in response and tap out the code for yes or no.
Whenever Anna was present the table behaved most animatedly. lt would at times tilt so much that it stood on one leg.
Undoubtedly Anna had the power but these qualities and potencies of her person were a secret from her family. "Mammy is sure to think I am possessed by the devil."
Then we selected a really heavy table and five of us sat round with the tips of our fingers touching its surface and we obtained faint tappings, but when we were joined by Anna this heavy kitchen table rose several inches right off the floor hanging, as it were, from our fingers touching its surface only. We had no physical lifting power that way and yet the table hung for a few moments like a pin from a magnet…..
But where did this power come from? Apparently it came from our bodies and in particular from Anna's body. She was however a religious girl who always prayed that this power should never be abused.
