Type of Spiritual Experience

Author’s later note: I later on discovered that the type of aura I then described as " a dirty mess " denoted a complete lack of emotional control, with little or no mentality and that an aura with a hard outline was a sign of conventionality.

A description of the experience

The Boy who saw True - June 15th

Mr. Patmore has found out that the lights I see round people is called an aura, and he told me how to spell it too. We talked a lot about auras to-day over milk, and it seemed to please him very much, because he asked a crowd of questions. I told him some peoples' (auras) were just a sort of dirty mess and nothing but a horrid muddle, but other people had nice auras with a lot of lovely bright colours. Then there were people whose auras ended all of a sudden, (ie. they had a hard outline) like mamma's, and others that got thinner and thinner at the edge like a (melting) cloud. I  told Mr. Patmore that his aura was very pretty, with yellow and some pink and a little green and blue, and he was very delighted.

July 9th

We went to Ilkley for cousin Agnes’s wedding and got back last night……. Cousin Agnes had to promise to love honour and obey Mr Hopkins which I thought a bit much I must say  … I reckon cousin Agnes felt jolly shy when she had to go to bed with Mr Hopkins last night. They went to London for their honeymoon. Mr. H. has quite a nice aura and I get the feeling that they'll be happy, (Author note: which proved to be correct), but somehow I don’t think they’ll live to be old. (Also correct). They are going to take a house near Manchester, where Mr. H. has his business.

It’s a rum thing, but I've got the notion that some people have sort of known each other before and then meet again and love each other. But I can’t quite make it out……
