In Otfried and other writers of the 9th and 10th centuries, they say the ‘angels’ are depicted as young men, but in the latter half of the 13th century, a popular preacher named Berthold says that

“Ir sehet wol daz si allesamt sint jundiche gemalet; als ein kint daz da vunf jar alt ist swa man sie malet” - I saw that they were all young, also a child of 5 years old is what is seen
