GREAT MASTER KYUNYO (923-973)
Eleven Poems on the Ten Vows of the Universally Worthy Bodhisattva
Wide Cultivation and the Making Of Offerings,
With tongs I trim the lamp
That burns before the Buddha and pray:
"The wick become large as Mount Sumeru
And the oil become a great ocean."
The incense reaches beyond the dharma realm,
Every incense an offering
To the buddhas who fill the dharma realm-
I offer them many offerings.
Ah, the offerings of the dharma are many:
But this indeed is the greatest.
