Poems Selected from Heinrich Heine – by Kate Freiligrath Kroeker
From the North Sea
A woman lives in the North
A beautiful woman, queenly beautiful
Round her cypress slim limbs
Flows a white and voluptuous garment
A dark mass of ringlets
Dark and tender as night
Falls from her head crowned with tresses
Encircling dreamily, sweetly
Her sweet pale face
Large and mighty, flashes her eye
Like a black burning sun
