A description of the experience

The Art of Dying – Drs Peter and Elizabeth Fenwick

My Father died on 30 April 1989 in the United States, where he lived. I could not go to the funeral because I was nine months pregnant. My son was born on 17 May 1989. Three days later . . . I was in my private room in hospital and my son was in his clear cot near my bedside; around 3 a.m. my Father actually came into my room - I saw him fully. I even remember sitting up in bed, because I did not think he was real, but he was there in my room.

I did not think at the time, 'Oh, he is dead.' He walked over to the cot and looked at my son and smiled. Then we smiled at one another and he nodded his head in approval and left. The next morning I remember his visit vividly. It was a wonderful experience.
