Background
Gordon Ashton is an artist whose studio and workhop is at the Quayhole gallery in Salcombe, Devon. At one time Gordon produced lots of very 'nice' commercial paintings and prints of the surrounding area, very conventional, technically very good.
And then for reasons I have been unable to find out, his whole style changed and it became really rather wonderful as if he had had a dose of ayuahasca or LSD!
This painting is but one example of his work, but the style is now unmistakeable.
They are a wonderful example of the colour and distortion effects one can get on drugs, but also occasionally in extreme cases caused by overload mechanisms.
